Hi! We're looking for new roommate (female preferred) to join the lease for a gorgeous 4BD/2BA apartment in the heart of Greenpoint. The lease starts October 1 and lasts a year.
THE ROOM
The room in question is virtually a unicorn in Brooklyn: it's lofted, with high ceilings so you don't feel cramped. Floor to ceiling windows let in lots of light. You'll have your own private balcony, with a view of the Manhattan skyline. There's the option to rent it unfurnished, or furnished for an additional flat fee of $800 (includes bed and frame, bedside table, closet, couch, patio furniture, coffee table, carpet, and standing shelves). Margaux, the girl who's leaving, has decked it out superbly, so come check it out before making a decision!
THE APARTMENT
This 4bd/2ba apartment is on the third floor of a walkup. There's central A/C and heating. The common area and kitchen come fully stocked with cooking equipment and a dishwasher, and there's a washer-dryer IN UNIT (life-changing, IMO). Finally, there's a great rooftop with an awesome view of Manhattan!
Cleaning is a communal effort, and we all contribute weekly to keep the space tidy and clean. We split the cost of household and cleaning products, and recycling is strongly encouraged here!
THE ROOMMATES
You'll be living with three young female professionals -- two 30-year-olds, and one in her early 20s -- who work in the city. We're pretty busy and aren't home much, but when we are, we treat our rooms (and the common area) as a sanctuary. (Lots of candles in the space!)
THE NEIGHBORHOOD
The apartment is 2 blocks (3 minute walk) from Greenpoint Av. station, and a 10 minute-walk from the East River ferry stop. Greenpoint is only a couple of stops from Long Island City, Queens, and a 25-minute commute from Midtown. But there's lots to see around the area -- we're located in one of the nicest up-and-coming neighborhoods in Brooklyn -- restaurants, gyms, cute boutiques, bars, painfully hip cafes, an indie bookstore, and the waterfront are minutes away. McCarren Park -- with a running track, swimming pool, bike lanes, and a weekend farmer's market -- is 15 minutes away. The Brooklyn Expo centre, which hosts a ton of awesome events year-round, is 5 minutes away, too. There's really no impetus to leave on the weekends!
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Looking for a mature, respectful, responsible, and clean person. You must pull your own weight in the house and contribute to cleaning common areas and picking up after yourself. Rent and utilities are due first of the month. If you like to party and have a large group of people over continuously this might not be the place for you. No drama, no drugs, and no extremely frequent overnight guests please! You should be employed and able to pay rent on time. Which brings us to...
RENT
Rent is $1,350 a month. Utilities are not included; wifi/electricity/gas come up to about $100 per person/month. Rent is due on the 1st of the month.
The landlord requires first and last month's rent, a security deposit, and a credit check before approving your application.
