As a true, 2 bedroom, well-lit, clean, and open apartment, guests will have access to their own, private bedroom, sharing kitchen and full bathroom with the host. The room has two twin beds and a wall to wall closet. The building has a laundry facility, a gym and there is a super market next door.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the kitchen area. There is an additional bedroom in which the host usually resides, and there is one bathroom which guests share with the host.

Interaction with Guests

Meeting and conversing with guests from all over, and making new friends, is one of the reasons I do this, so I do like to meet my guests and get to know them too.

The Neighborhood

This apartment is located in the center of Astoria's famous and charming social life and small, independent restaurant and shopping scene. Everything is convenient and right-scaled in Astoria -- no big box stores in the entire area, for example. Instead hundreds of independent shops, restaurants, and services all within a block or two of walking distance. The neighborhood's historical Greek immigrant roots are evident everywhere, as well as newer arrivals from many parts of the world, but as the area has become coveted by people who work in Manhattan recently, there has also been influx of Asian, North African, and Hispanic businesses and dwellers, providing a model of diversity coupled with progressive, economic prosperity.

Getting around

Only a few blocks from the Broadway N/Q subway station, the apartment is closer to Midtown Manhattan than most of Manhattan is -- about 15-20 minutes most the time. It is also quite convenient (15 minutes by taxi, 30 minutes by subway/bus) from LaGuardia Airport, and about 30 minutes from JFK by taxi, which can also be reached by subway from the Steinway station, which is about 6 short blocks the apartment. (Long blocks are actually quite long, about as long as 4 short blocks, running north and south in Astoria, while short blocks run east and west.)
