Hello!
We’re looking for a fun/clean roommate for our 3-bedroom apartment in Stuyvesant Town. Our roommate who currently resides in our 3rd master bedroom is leaving the lease early to move back home. We’re looking to fill the master bedroom for the remainder of the lease which ends on July 25, 2018. There is the possibility of resigning the lease at that time depending on how the living situation is working out for everyone involved.
The master bedroom’s dimensions is enormous by Manhattan standards and are 15'0" x 12'0". This large and airy room includes 2 closets with lots of light from 2 windows (1 facing south, and the other facing west). There is an AC unit incorporated in the room. Additionally there are hard wood floors. The bedroom is closest to the bathroom. Our current roommate residing in the room will be leaving his bed frame and mattress, which is up for grabs by whoever is moving in (or we can toss it, whichever is preferred).
The apartment features a kitchen with a window and dishwasher, fridge, microwave, and oven. We have a ton of kitchen utensils, pots and pans, glasses and plates already for anyone to use. We buy our own groceries but share spices. The living/dining room space includes a large couch, dining room table, t.v., and our own mini library bookshelf. We’re in the process of decorating the walls further in the living room and welcome additions. There is 1 shared bathroom with a window and a storage closet right outside the bathroom. The apartment building also features a washer and dryer in the basement, as well as a spot inside where you take out garbage. Stuyvesant Town is a great community to live in and is a breath of fresh air from the surrounding city streets. There are basketball/racketball/ping pong courts, an ice skating rink in the winter, a few fields for sunbathing/reading outside in the summer, and a café in the center of Stuy Town. We live at the corner of Avenue C and 18th Street with the river right next to us, and thus easy access for walking/running along the river, and with the East Village right below us which is great for food and going out. The 1st Avenue L train stop is a 8 minute walk from us, and we’re an approximate 20 minute walk from Union Square where you’ll find the NQRW, 456, and L trains.
Jeyan and I (Elise) are fun-spirited, easy-going 27 year old female roommates. Jeyan works at Momofuku Corporate and I work at Mount Sinai in clinical research. We enjoy exploring the city, trying out new foods, going out at night, and being couch potatoes while catching up on Stranger Things. We’re looking for someone who is also easy going but respects common spaces/living with other roommates. We’re always down for hanging out but also have our separate lives and don’t expect any roommate dependency. Ideally whoever moves in is a working individual with a steady and stable income, and who ranges in age between 25 and 35.
We try to do a deep apartment cleaning every few weeks and switch up responsibilities each time. We also share the costs for household expenses such as toilet paper, dishwasher detergent, etc. We clean up after ourselves (such as cleaning up after making a meal and having folks over, not leaving dishes in the sink for too long, and taking out the garbage when it’s complete rather than waiting for another person to do it).
The price of the master bedroom is $1875. Additionally we pay for AC monthly in our rent bill which is usually priced at $26 but also can vary by a few dollars depending on Stuy Town’s AC usage. We have a separate internet account set up and each roommate should pay approximately $25 depending on the bill that month (it only varies by $2-3 dollars each month). The cost of the master bedroom may increase when we resign the lease next July 2018. the rent will go up, and this will be split by your percentage of the rent. We’re very interested in someone who would potentially like to resign at that time (but again depends on how well everyone gets along/life circumstances that pop up).
There will be a security deposit for this room priced. Stuy Town holds on to this amount until we leave. We need to figure out the correct amount, but it's approximately $1650 (we'll update this soon).
Please reach out if you have any questions!
Best,
Elise
