Available Room for Rent

Looking for Roommate to join lease on apartment April 1

Hello,

We have a roommate moving out March 31st and are looking for someone kind, clean, devoid of drama, and wildly interesting to move in April 1.

Some details about the space and us:

*The Location*
The apartment is in Bushwick, two blocks from the Central M, an 8-minute walk to the Myrtle-Broadway J/M/Z, and 15 minutes from the Morgan or Dekalb L stops. Lots of friendly bars and a growing food community in the area and a couple great used bookstores.

*The Room and Apartment*
We’re in a 3-bedroom apartment that’s on the first floor + the basement, and we have a uniquely large amount of space when compared to the rest of the city--our rooms aren’t on top of each other, and no shared bedroom walls! On the main floor is a sizeable shared living/dining area, a well-stocked kitchen, two bedrooms at opposite ends of the apartment, and a full bath. Third bedroom is in the basement with a half bath. Lots of exposed brick throughout. The space on the first floor is mainly left to you and the one roommate who also has a bedroom on the main floor, at the back.

Your room is at the front of the building, has two big windows, wood floors, a brick wall, and two closets with additional overhead cubby storage space. The room itself is about 150 sq ft. (this can comfortably fit a queen bed and a desk) and is adjacent to a shared bathroom. (While the basement has its own half bath, we all use the upstairs shower with little to no traffic jams.)

The landlord/management company is great and we have friendly neighbors. There is coin laundry in the basement (only 5 other families in the building) and the apartment is well-heated in winter.

Rent is $1020 per person each month and utilities come to $30-60 a month, depending on the season (electricity is about $15-30 each and plus $25/each for internet).

*The Situation*
The three of us have lived together for 3-4 years now and we have a great relationship, but one of our roommates is leaving to live with her significant other.

The two of us remaining are:
33-year-old (he) who works in creative technology/experiential design, is a classically-trained cook and puts on interactive dinner events (not in the apartment).
32-year-old (she/they) who’s a writer/editor/teacher, works in underserved public health, and is completing an MFA in poetry at NYU. (You would be sharing the main floor with this roommate and their small, hypoallergenic, house-trained emotional support dog. Unfortunately we can’t have any more pets in the space.)

We are both very amenable, not bothersome, clean, generally busy, and respectful overall.

We hope to live with someone who is very clean, tidy, responsible, and considerate of space and sound (we both are such); queer friendly; has a positive attitude and kind communication; and doesn’t bring the party home much. Since the two of us work mostly from home, it might be best if our new housemate works mainly outside the house, but we are flexible about this with the right person.

*The Logistics*
The landlord does require a good credit (or a guarantor with good credit). The current lease ends March 31, so well before then we’d want to meet you and, if we think it's a good fit, put you through the application process. Then you would sign an individual 12-month lease (we all have separate leases in our own names).

Please let us know if you have any questions or need any more information.

If interested, please email me details about yourself and your situation, then let's set up a time for you to visit the space, meet the roommates, etc. Then, if you're willing to commit, we can start the credit checks with the landlord and the remainder of the paperwork to finalize the situation.
