Hi! I'm a middle school teacher that works out in Chinatown/ LES. Besides teaching, I'm pretty active: I'm usually training for a race, practicing capoeira, weightlifting, or vegging out on the couch with Netflix or a book (This too is a form of training!)
Like most New Yorkers, my job is a bit stressful, so my home environment is really important to me. Most nights I'm home around 5ish, but then I'll head out for a run, capoeira or to the gym. During the weekend, I usually run errands, do some school-related work, and cook a bunch on Sunday to get ready for the week.
I'm pretty quiet and introverted, but every once in a while, I like to have a gathering and cook for folks. I have been in this apartment for about 4 years, and I love my landlords, neighborhood/ neighbors and the space itself. This is such a rarity in NYC, so I'm looking for someone (maybe 2 people if things work out) to help keep this home space feeling like home: warm, safe, predictable and welcoming.

Greetings good people!
My roommate has married, so her very spacious room is available December 1st.
I am:
- a teacher in my late 30s.
- the first tenant in the apartment (a 3-family building), and our landlords live next door.
- busy during the week... I try to go to bed relatively early and wake up early for work. I also run and am usually training for something. I'm pretty quiet and like my home to be calm and good vibes. Every once in a while, I like to invite friends over to cook for them, but I'll always check with you.
- I have lived here for going on 5 years, and I love the apartment, building, neighborhood and my landlords.
- My landlords (who are awesome) would also need to meet the tenant so they get a sense of the who is in the building.
Important details:
- $2250 total (so, $1125/ per person + utilities included
- The apartment is somewhat furnished, but since my roommate and I bought the pieces together, some of it will be leaving with her.
- within short walking distance to the 2/5 and Q train stop @ Church Ave.
- Laundromat, grocery store, local Caribbean restaurants are also very nearby!
Other cool details:
- balcony!
- central air, so the house stays a cool and comfortable during the hot, humid month of July and warm during the winter!
- bike rack in the "vestibule" area in front of our apartment
I am looking for:
- someone who is financially responsible
- no drama!
- NEAT and cleans up after him/herself
If you think you are a possible fit, please email a short description of you (work, work schedule, what you're looking for, etc.)
:)
